In 2019 we are celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the RSCDS Vienna Branch.

Highlight will be a Dance Weekend for advanced dancers in Vienna, with Raphaëlle Orgeret teaching and Luke & Adam Brady as class musicians. We are very happy to welcome Muriel Johnstone and Keith Smith as musicians for the evening dances and the ball on Sunday evening.

The venue for the weekend combines the dance hall, restaurant and hotel rooms under one roof. The Hotel Europahaus is surrounded by a small park, the city can be easily reached by public transport. The Vienna Woods are starting nearby, the famous Schönbrunn Palace is only a few subway stops away, and one of the most important Art Nouveau churches, St. Leopold am Steinhof is only 3km from the venue.

An optional walking tour through Vienna will be arranged on the Saturday if there is enough interest.

Teacher and Musicians

We are very happy to offer you a weekend of dancing with some of the best teachers and musicians in the Scottish Dance world. Together they form a wonderful link between music and dancing and are looking forward to sharing their experience with you!

<IMG align=“left” src=“/images/raphaelle.png” alt=“Raphaelle Orgeret” width=“140” height=“200” hspace=“10” vspace=“10”> Raphaëlle Orgeret

After attending Summer School for the first time in 1998 Raphaëlle was hooked and has not stopped dancing since. As a certificated teacher she has been teaching classes at the RSCDS Summer School, the Winter School and Spring Fling as well as workshops across Europe. For several years she coached a team for the Newcastle Festival comprising friends from across Europe and called it the International Team. She now coaches her Lyon branch team for the competition.

Luke & Adam Brady

Luke and Adam Brady are well known musicians from Scotland. Being members of Luke Brady's Scottish Dance Band they have played on many occasions togethere or solo for Scottish Country Dancing in Scotland and around the World.

Together with Raphaëlle they will form a wonderful team for our dance classes!

Muriel Johnstone and Keith Smith

What do you really need to say about these two wonderful musicians? Well known in the Scottish Country Dance world and beyond they feature in many Scottish Country Dance recordings (www.scotscores.com) and are a guarantee for fabulous music and rapt audiences.

Muriel Johnstone has enjoyed a lifetime of work and enjoyment through traditional Scottish music and dance. Scottish fiddler Keith Smith is known internationally for his concerts, recording and teaching of Scottish fiddle music (www.keithbuchanansmith.wordpress.com).

Classes will be taught by Raphaelle Orgeret, to music from Luke Brady/Adam Brady (piano or accordion).

Music for the evening dances will be provided by Muriel Johnstone (piano) and Keith Smith (fiddle).
