General Information

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Vienna Branch of the RSCDS we will be organising a workshop with Muriel Johnstone, Keith Smith, Graham Donald and Susi Mayr from 30 April to 3 May 2009.

The three days dancing in Baden, an attractive Biedermeier town close to Vienna, comprise six SCD classes plus optional sessions for Biedermeier Waltz and Highland/step dancing.
In addition we are offering the option of booking a whole week's dancing and travelling in cooperation with the Budapest SCD Group.
The dance course will take place in the Grand Hotel**** Sauerhof a picturesque and sympathetically restored Biedermeier palace dating back to the 16th century, which offers a grand ball room, an extensive wellness area and excellent cuisine.
All meals are served as a buffet with vegetarian alternatives included. The schedule below gives details of the activities and meals included in the workshop.
An optional walking tour through Baden or the Vineyards will be arranged on Friday or Saturday if there is enough interest.

Susi Mayr  Graham Donald
Teachers: Graham Donald and Susi Mayr

We are very happy to welcome two innovative and very creative teachers in Vienna in 2009! With a combined teaching experience spanning more than 60 years, in many countries and on several continents, Graham and Susi will be focusing on sound technique as the best foundation for fun in Scottish Country Dancing.

Muriel and Keith

Musicians: Muriel Johnstone and Keith Smith

Not much needs to be said about Muriel and Keith in Scottish Dance circles. Together they are a guarantee for fabulous music during the classes and evening events as we have experienced in Vienna previously!

Muriel and Keith

Venue: Baden/Vienna

The Viennese Woods and the luscious vineyards merge into the romantic lanes and squares of Baden, forming a harmony with the Biedermeier houses.

Only 26 km south of Vienna, the spa town of Baden offers a rich variety of baths and springs, parks, coffeehouses as well as idyllic wine places. Baden has held a special place in Austrian history since Emperor Francis I chose this idyllic town for his Imperial summer residence from 1814 to 1834.
