25th Jubilee of the Vienna Branch

The RSCDS Vienna Branch organized a Whitsun Weekend from 6 to 9 June 2014 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its foundation in May 1989. The weekend was held at the Europahaus, a training and event centre on the edge of the Vienna Woods. Over 100 dancers came to the quickly sold-out course and enjoyed exceptional teaching by Fred DeMarse and terrific live music provided by Muriel Johnstone, Keith Smith and Andrew Nolan.

You can see from the pictures that there was much happy dancing, including Highland, that the weather and venue were perfect and that we celebrated 25 years of dancing in Vienna in fitting style.

This video also captures a few impressions from the weekend.

Let’s quote a few of the participants who wrote to us after the course to express their thanks:

  • “Your choice of Fred as teacher was an inspired one: he’s probably the best we’ve ever had in many years of dancing.”

  • “The musicians set the assembly on fire; the teaching and dancing were great.”

  • “The Sunday ball was a miracle. It was a good idea to have a different musician for the classes.”

  • “Congratulations on a truly memorable weekend!”  “Every moment of it was real fun.”

Finally, from the musicians themselves:

“Fabulous organisation + great programmes + super venue + brilliant & relaxed team = PERFECT WEEKEND!”

Thanks to all who made this such a marvellous occasion.

20th Anniversary Workshop

The RSCDS Vienna Branch was founded in May 1989. This 20th anniversary was celebrated with a long Weekend of Scottish Country Dancing (30 April - 3 May, 2009) at Grand Hotel Sauerhof in Baden near Vienna. With about 130 dancers from 15 different countries it was a wonderful and international event. We had excellent courses with Susi Mayr and Graham Donald as teachers and lots of fabulous music by Muriel Johnstone and Keith Smith.

Some pictures are available here.

We are glad that we had so many enjoyable hours of dancing, chatting and celebrating with all of you. Thank you so much for joining and making it an unforgettable event!
